About the role:
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Lead cross-functional projects as needed, as per established Greenpeace project management procedures. Act as a task manager and oversee approved project budgets.
- Strengthen, broaden and diversify Greenpeace Canada’s network of offline supporters and develop opportunities for engagement (e.g. meetings, trainings, orientations, participation in Greenpeace activities & broader movement events, etc.)
- Work collaboratively in campaign teams to develop and implement creative and impactful campaign strategies and to select offline action tactics that provide significant opportunities for engagement and mobilization by target audiences.
- Research, plan, develop, implement and coordinate relevant, high-profile actions and events (e.g. non-violent direct actions, direct communications, photo opportunities, creative confrontations, protests, etc.) in accordance with Greenpeace’s strict Duty of Care standards and Action Procedures. Research and investigate these action plans for feasibility, including risks and legal assessments via consultation and representation.
- Provide support as well as technical, creative and logístical advice for Greenpeace campaign staff and other Actions & Organizing staff as required.
- Participate as a trainer and help with the further development of Greenpeace Canada’s activist training program (which includes: creative, non-violent direct action tactics, climbing, boat driving, basic action-related and mobilization techniques, research & scouting, etc.)
- Manage and organize Greenpeace’s Actions and Mobilization spaces to facilitate projects, actions, trainings and external events. Maintain proper use and storage of all materials and equipment. Coordinate with external groups as appropriate for the use of these spaces or equipment according to Greenpeace policies and procedures.
- Build relationships with community partners and movement allies and identify opportunities for collaboration and intersectional organizing.
- Maintain and develop connections with Greenpeace’s global communities for support and Best Practices as needed (e.g. Actions, Volunteer Coordination, Maritime & Investigations, etc.)

Skills and Experience:

- Demonstrated commitment to environmental and social justice issues, including activism and peaceful civil disobedience.
- Experience with NVDA strategy and tactics, and/ or willingness to learn.
- Highly organized with excellent time management and logistics skills.
- Extremely well-developed judgment and analytical skills.
- Strong leadership skills, with previous experience working within and leading groups or teams of staff and volunteers.
Extensive experience providing specialized coaching, training and inspiring diverse groups or teams of staff and volunteers.
- Previous experience with grassroots and/or community organizing.
- High levels of creativity and motivation.
- Proven experience handling, maintaining, and using action equipment with a deep knowledge of health, safety and legal issues.
- Ability to not just navigate but function effectively in highly charged situations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (in French and English), including public speaking and presentation skills, as well as strong active listening skills.
