**Position Purpose and Summary**

Writing Coaches help students with every stage of their writing process via individual and group sessions. Writing Coaches collaborate with faculty and support staff to provide support to students from orientation to graduation.

**Key Areas of Accountability**
- Work with graduate students in writing coaching sessions on various writing skills at various stages of the writing process, such as: including prewriting, integrating research, drafting, revising, editing, and formatting
- Plan and facilitate writing group sessions and workshops based on specific learning outcomes and assignments
- Coordinate with course instructors regarding course-specific writing support, such as: course writing content and assignments, expectations, rubrics, and formative feedback
- Promote the services of the Writing Centre
- Develop writing resources and training materials
- Collaborate with the team of Writing Coaches and other Learning Commons specialists
- Refer students to appropriate TWU specialists and supports
- Engage in professional development

- Be experienced in learning and writing at the graduate level
- Have a research-informed understanding of writing and writing pedagogy
- Be collaborative
- Have strong communication skills in English
- Be able to scaffold learning and adjust scaffolding as needed
- Be willing to learn about emerging writing strategies, tools, and technologies
- Come alongside students in their learning journey

**Standards & Requirements**
- ** Education**: Master’s degree in TESOL, Linguistics, English, Education or related field.
- ** Experience**: At least one year teaching or coaching writing at the Higher Ed level
- Duties and responsibilities that do not constitute a major change may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of the supervisor either orally or in writing._
