Production Operator

**SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTIONS**
- To ensure efficient flow of raw materials and finished goods through the production machines so production is not interrupted
- Help production technician to complete the changeover operation on the assigned machines.
- Prepare the packaging required during production run for the assigned machines.
- Move finish goods production to the staging area with the help of electric pallet lifters.
- Maintain traceability documents and all process related data using appropriate forms, as required
- Maintain the 5S around the production area.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 as per training provided.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED**

The following list is not and cannot be all inclusive. Certain requirements may be waived at the discretion of the hiring manager.
- High school completion, or minimum of two years industrial manufacturing experience
- Ability to understand and carry out instructions
- Forklift License preferred
- Ability to perform manual lifting tasks
- Basic knowledge of math
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**PRINCIPLE DUTIES**

A) To check material hoppers at the beginning of each shift, ensuring machines do not run out

B) Ensure the machines are supplied with proper raw materials and correctly blend colored materials.
- No contamination exists
- No lost production time occurs
- Correct packaging labels are adhered to the finish goods gaylords.
- All bins containing raw materials are covered after use
- After use, any leftover materials are replaced at the appropriate storage area
- All empty reusable boxes are retained with their original lids and unusable boxes are broken down for recycling and put away

C) Chunks, strands, rejected parts and different types of plastics are collected in properly identified boxes

D) Ensure the boxes in which the products are packaged are clean, strong, and placed on a safe skid.

E) Remove the properly identified finished goods from the machines and store in the appropriate storage area.

F) Ensure the production process parameters are recorded in appropriate forms at prescribed intervals, training will be provided by the production supervisor and production technician.

G) Samples from the production processes are collected at appropriate times for verification of quality.

H) Keep area around the machines and production floor clean all the times.

**COMMUNICATIONS**

A) Ensure immediate supervisor is continually and fully informed of all job-related matters.

B) Actively communicate production and quality information to other personnel concerned, thereby eliminating misunderstanding.

C) Seek out necessary information required for accomplishing job responsibilities.

**SAFETY**

All employees have a general duty to take responsibility for personal health and safety, which means they should not behave or operate equipment in a way that would endanger themselves or others.

Employees are required to:

- Practice and lead by example to ensure housekeeping / 5S activities throughout Salflex are industry best in class.
- Work in compliance with Section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and its regulations.
- Use any equipment, protective devices or clothing the employer requires / sees fit.
- Tell the employer or Supervisor about any known missing equipment, defective equipment or protective devices which may be dangerous.
- Not remove or make ineffective any protective devices which are required by the employer or by regulations.
- Report to his / her Supervisor all incidents, accidents and/or hazards. Including a focus on proactive identification of hazards / near misses and their subsequent closure when assigned by Plant Manager.
- Not engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct.

**SECURITY AND HOUSEKEEPING**
- To ensure all business related documents are retained, at all times, in a secure manner.
- Do not permit entry to any unauthorized person (s) on company facility. Report any suspicious activity, unidentified person or any such security risks to management immediately.
- When leaving or entering the building verify the door is locked behind you and is not propped open.
- Report key-card loss immediately to the Human Resources designate.
- Ensure your work area is a clean and safe workplace at all times.
- Must not disclose to any person without the Company’s consent, any information concerning its inventions, processes, methods, trade secrets or secret procedures owned or used by the Company
