Promotion and Outreach Assistant (“Communication Expert”)

Village Vancouver is seeking a motivated and community-focused individual to join our team as a Promotion and Outreach Assistant for Summer 2025. This role is ideal for someone interested in community development, with strong digital communication skills and a passion for outreach and engagement. - be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or have official refugee protection status, and be legally entitled to work in Canada
- be between the ages of 15 and 30

**Projects and tasks may include**:

- Helping plan and promote Village Vancouver’s programs and projects, especially during the 2025 Annual Food Festival (May 20 to July 8), which focuses on community-based food resiliency and includes hands-on workshops, garden activities, and other activities.
- Facilitating outreach via social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram) and other digital channels.
- Maintaining Village Vancouver’s current website, and helping finish the new website.
- Producing monthly newsletters, posters, and other promotional materials.
- Blogging about Village Vancouver projects, workshops, and activities.
- Promoting upcoming events and activities through both digital and print media.
- Assisting on-site at events such as Car Free Day, community festivals, workshops, and other Village Vancouver initiatives.
- Supporting Village Vancouver’s participation in public events and community gatherings.
- Helping prepare the organization’s annual report and assisting with internal communications as needed.

**Qualifications**:

- Interest in community development and outreach
- Knowledge of general office procedures
- Familiarity and experience with a wide range of social media and digital communication tools
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with staff, volunteers, and partner organizations
- Experience working with individuals from diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with graphic design tools and website management and development is an asset

**Rate of pay**:$20.00 per hour + 4% in lieu of vacation.

**Job duration and hours**:30 hours/week for 9 weeks (270), from June 4th, 2025 to August 2nd, 2025. (Start and end dates may be adjusted.) Monday-Friday 10 am-4:30 pm, including a 1⁄2 hour lunch break. Hours may occasionally vary, and sometimes include a Saturday and/or a Sunday in lieu of a weekday (e.g. when we're tabling at a community fair or festival).

**Location**: Kitsilano/Westside and remotely, and in the field
