**Work Location**: Main office at St. Anne’s Church, 20 Morrison Dr, St. Thomas ON N5R 4S6
**Commitment**: 35 hours per week. Flexibility in scheduling is required, including the ability to work evenings to attend meetings as required.
**Compensation**:Salary commensurate with experience and Diocesan policies. This position is eligible for participation in the Diocese of London’s lay staff benefit and pension plans.

Reporting to the Business Manager, the Bookkeeper for the Elgin Roman Catholic Family of Parishes is responsible for managing the parish finances and financial business processes for the 4 parishes, 1 parish hall and 3 parish cemeteries of the Family as well as the finances for the London Latin Mass. The Bookkeeper performs a variety of bookkeeping, finance and administrative support-based tasks to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for the parishes and compliance with diocesan policies, procedures and applicable legislation.
**SUMMARY OF DUTIES**:
- Manages the full-cycle bookkeeping process for each parish within the Family of Parishes.
- Processes day-to-day transactions including A/R, A/P, payroll, benefit billings, payments, banking, etc.
- Reconciles bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts.
- Oversees the counting of the offertory collections and all other revenue sources and ensures that the processing, including the banking, is handled in accordance with diocesan guidelines.
- Ensures all transactions are compliant with diocesan policies, procedures and applicable legislation.
- Supports month-end and year-end closing procedures including allocations and deferrals.
- Maintains the parish offering envelope system, records weekly donations in DDMS (Diocesan Data Management System), and mails donor receipts and statements.
- Coordinates boxed envelope sets for distribution and mailing, including assigning envelope numbers.
- Provides support for audits, budget preparation, loan management and other accounting related tasks.
- Maintains separate financial records for the parishes of the Elgin Roman Catholic Family of Parishes.
- Processes all charitable receipts, HST rebates, Cemetery Returns, income tax receipts, T4As, government remittances and annual charity returns etc.
- Maintains staff time records, including vacation and sick accruals and banks.
- Other duties of a similar nature as assigned by the Pastor/Manager.
**QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS**:
- Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting, finance, related field or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience working in a multi-tasking finance or accounting role.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint). Prior experience working with accounting and/or payroll software is an asset.
- Self-motivated and proactive with excellent time management skills.
- Proven ability to effectively multi-task, properly prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to ensure and maintain confidentiality.
- Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with others in a welcoming and professional manner.
