**Manager, Indigenous Relations**:
The District of Kitimat is recruiting for the position of **Manager, Indigenous Relations. **Reporting to the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, this position is responsible for providing input to and implementing the overall Indigenous Relations strategy for the District.

**What will you do?**
- Develop plans and projects to align with the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, BC Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act and the Truth and Reconciliation of Canada Call to Actions
- Meet regularly with local Indigenous communities, in particular the Haisla Nation, to build and maintain relationships
- Work collaboratively with departments across the District of Kitimat to assist in the development and implementation of both District-wide and departmental focused reconciliation initiatives and collaborate to integrate Indigenous perspectives and considerations into policies, programs and projects and identify opportunities for joint initiatives that align with Indigenous community priorities
- Provide research, analysis, reports and presentations to Senior Staff and Municipal Council
- Develop procedures and resources to help guide the District’s engagement activities that promote cultural knowledge and safe and respectful cross-cultural interactions
- Process and respond to incoming requests for advice from District staff
- Act as a liaison between the District of Kitimat and the Haisla Nation

**What do you bring with you?**
- A university degree in Indigenous Studies, Public Administration or related discipline or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience working with Indigenous communities
- 3 years of relevant work experience
- Established working relationships with the Haisla Nation, and experience working for or with an Indigenous government or an Indigenous community will be considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of Indigenous history, culture, and rights in the context of Canada
- Thorough knowledge of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People, BC Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Calls to Action
- The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
