The Western Development Museum (WDM) is seeking a **Chief Steam Engine Operator**to be responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the WDM’s steam powered artifacts. The Chief Steam Engine Operator is responsible for steam safety, supervision and training of staff and volunteers, and the proper maintenance and testing of all WDM steam powered artifacts**. This position is based out of the WDM Moose Jaw**and is ideal for someone who loves Saskatchewan summers but wants to escape to warmer climates in the winter.

**DUTIES**:

- Oversees the safe operation of steam powered artifacts including antique steam traction engines, the Vulcan steam locomotive, and stationary steam engines.
- Supervises all maintenance and repairs to steam powered artifacts. Ensures work is completed in accordance with TSASK requirements and WDM standards.
- Ensures operating steam engines are tested and certified annually.
- Monitors the condition of steam powered artifacts throughout the WDM’s operating season.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate and a Saskatchewan Limited Power Engineer’s (Traction) license.
- Saskatchewan Class 5 driver’s license.
- Minimum of 5 - 6 years of relevant work experience.

Hours will vary based on the seasonal nature of steam operation and are flexible. Up to 40 hours per week during the operating season and 10 - 15 hours per week during the off season. Evening and weekend work required at certain times during the operating season. This position includes paid sick leave, participation in the Public Employees' Pension Plan (with employer contribution matching) and health and dental benefits as per the WDM Benefits Package Policy.
