Carmeuse has devised a roadmap to reach carbon neutrality by 2050, with intermediate objectives for 2030 and 2040. Roadmap includes CCU / CCS, replacing fossil fuels with biomass, circular economy and asset modernization.

Decarbonization Manager is responsible to further develop and support Carmeuse’s Netzero Roadmap in Americas by identifying and assessing CCUS technologies, completing techno-economic analysis to support the business case and identify funding / grants opportunities and present the business case to the senior leadership in North America. This is a very visible position across Carmeuse as the person works with colleagues in Europe, Americas from finance, operations, engineering and legal disciplines.

Responsibilities & Duties:

- Support the development of Carmeuse North-America’s decarbonization strategy
- Prospect and identify new decarbonization technologies and opportunities including Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage, Hydrogen technologies and fossil fuel substitution with biomass.
- Define and develop new decarbonization projects across Carmeuse’s operations in North America
- Develop business models and assess business cases
- Set-up and negotiate partnerships
- Report regularly on progress to North America’s leadership team

Job Qualifications:

- Required skills and knowledge
- Good understanding of decarbonization technologies, policies and challenges with a particular focus on CCUS
- Background in engineering in mechanical / chemical / energy discipline is required, climate science knowledge is a plus.
- Capable to build advanced techno-economic models for financial evaluation of projects
- Business acumen and understanding of common decarbonization business models (as-a-service decarbonization models, renewable PPA’s, voluntary carbon offsets,)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Manage and collaborate on projects using a variety of MS Office tools (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, Excel, Word,)
- Strong Project Management skills
- Approximately 25% travel required including travel to Europe to attend conferences, meetings and project meetings

You will be part of Carmeuse Americas, a Rock-Star team of 2500 workers and employees bringing with them their own culture and specific needs. The Americas headquarters are located in Pittsburgh, PA and have over three dozen production facilities across the Eastern U.S., Canada, Chile, Brazil, and Colombia.
