**Position Scope**
The **Control Panel Operator** participates in an Operations team that consists of field operators, lab technicians, and general labourers. They collaborate with engineering and maintenance personnel to operate process equipment and gather data in support of technology development. The primary responsibilities will be to operate plant equipment from the control room DCS, conduct plant test campaigns and track plant activities in support of process development and future plant design.
**_ This position requires a 12-hour shifts following a 4-on / 4-off shift pattern (which includes night and day rotation)._**
**_ This position is based in Squamish, BC._**
**Responsibilities**
- Monitor and operate plant equipment from the control room DCS.
- Provide direction for manual actions to field operators based on feedback from instruments installed on process units.
- Adjust process parameters to achieve targeted results outlined in test plans and to optimize process units.
- Execute initial data analysis and troubleshooting of plant equipment.
- Complete effective shift handover to oncoming operators and communicate effectively between teams.
- Provide input for completing daily reports. Complete detailed daily logs.
- Maintain a well-organized workspace and exceptional housekeeping standards.
- Request, coordinate and support maintenance requirements with the Maintenance Team.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures.
- Collaborate with Engineering team on detailed data analysis.
- Understand lab results and reports and make process adjustments to return to targets set by Engineering Teams and Production Manager.
- Participate in risk assessments to operate process equipment in abnormal configurations (interlock bypass, overrides, etc.)
- Provide regular feedback to Controls Engineering team for improvements and modifications that could be made to the plant DCS and automation systems.
- Complete training requirements to learn about Carbon Engineering processes/expectations, and gain a critical understanding of plant systems, process fundamentals, and plant operations.
- Perform safety checks and audits.
- Develop, implement and maintain policies, practices and procedures for plant operations.
- Execute, assess and sign-off on proper Lock Out Tag Out procedures. Support proper isolations and line breaks.
- Participate in hazard and operability analyses of new process units and equipment.
- Foster and maintain a positive culture within the Operations Team; promote effective teamwork effort, a questioning mindset and recognize failure as a learning opportunity.
- Identify, capture and communicate lessons learned and implement solutions where appropriate.
- Provide support, guidance, training and coaching for new Plant Operators.
**Health, Safety and Environment**
- Champion a positive safety culture within the Operations teams.
- Be familiar with, and ensure adherence to core HSE policies including, but not limited to:
- Permit to work
- Lockout tagout.
- Contractor work.
- Line break.
- Hot work.
- Confined space entry.
- Working at height.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Maintain the Plant in a safe condition in line with all applicable regulations.
- Identify, report and resolve unsafe conditions, processes or actions within the workplace.
- Ensure that all safety related incidents, accidents and near misses are reported and investigated in line with company policy.
