**Introduction**:
ICES is seeking two Epidemiologists that will be supporting the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO), focusing on two projects:
**Supportive Care Project**
The MNO has received funding support from the Government of Canada to liaise and collaborate with the province to address pandemic-related challenges with respect to supportive care for Métis citizens, including home care and facility-based care. To accomplish this work, the MNO is using mixed methods including secondary analysis of administrative data in combination with information directly from Métis Citizens. The Epidemiologist will be supporting data collection, interpretation and knowledge dissemination to both Métis Citizens and the scientific community.
**COVID-19 Surveys Project**
The MNO has received funding support from the Government of Canada to gather information about the physical, mental, and social well-being of MNO Citizens using a series of population-based surveys. The Epidemiologist will be supporting data analysis, interpretation and knowledge dissemination to both Métis Citizens and the scientific community.
Reporting to Research Program Manager, Data and Analytic Services (DAS), the Epidemiologists will work collaboratively with the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) or Staff Scientist; and will provide epidemiological input as well as general project management for their assigned projects.
**Responsibilities of the position include, but may not be limited to**:
Research and Organization related duties may include:
- Develop, plan and implement study/project protocols under the direction of the PI or Staff Scientist in collaboration with the MNO. These activities may include:
- Assisting in grant/project submissions including budget preparation;
- Completing literature searchers and reviews to support the work at each step, including contextualizing the results with existing academic research and grey literature;
- Assisting with study design and sampling strategies;
- Proposing methodology to engage Citizens directly and developing data collection tools in collaboration with MNO leadership, staff, Citizens and Senators to understand Métis experiences with home care and long-term care during COVID-19 (e.g., questionnaire and guidance document);
- Assisting with the production of accurate and timely data/reports including the development of data creation and analytic plans; data interpretation and presentation; and the development of procedures for data validation as appropriate;
- Collecting experiences of MNO Citizens;
- Analyzing and interpreting the experiences of MNO Citizens;
- Integrating the qualitative and quantitative findings in collaboration with MNO leadership, staff, Citizens and Senators;
- Interpreting the findings from the secondary analysis of administrative health data in collaboration with MNO leadership and staff and ICES analytical staff.
- May analyze data using statistical software according to ICES SAS Programming Standards independently and/or in collaboration with team member(s) or faculty:
- Develop SAS programs to extract and merge data from existing ICES databases according to data set creation plans to create study cohorts following analytic standards and guidelines following analytic standards and guidelines;
- Carry out statistical analysis on developed study cohorts according to specifications of project analysis plans;
- Prepare and review _(with the Research Program Manager or the Director, DAS as required)_ analytic output _(e.g., tables and reports)_.
- General project management which may include:
- Monitoring project timelines, risks and deliverables in collaboration with other team members;
- Managing project budgets and allocating funds in collaboration with the PI;
- Liaising with the Finance and Procurement departments.
