**Our External Relations Department is seeking a Communications and Education Coordinator who will support public, Indigenous, and stakeholder engagement for regional liquid waste infrastructure projects. Your ability to translate technical information into easy-to-understand content so that communities can provide meaningful feedback will be key. If you bring previous experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team within a project management framework for infrastructure construction projects, you’ll get off to a running start. You are a trusted advisor, a part of the team, and graceful when things change on short notice. Your previous experience working with diverse communities will serve you well as you navigate the complexities of infrastructure projects.**

**This role**:
- Plans and coordinates implementation and delivery of engagement initiatives and supporting communications materials for liquid waste infrastructure projects. This work includes reviewing projects with engineers, identifying potential community impacts and impacted audiences, determining appropriate engagement and communications strategies, crafting key messages, and implementing the appropriate engagement and communication strategy.
- Develops project scope and deliverables; and establishes schedules as necessary.
- Develops and prepares engagement strategies and materials; writes or adapts communication materials (e.g. brochures, display panels, presentations, videos, website and social media content), prepares budget estimates and develops evaluation criteria for same.
- Oversees the work of internal team members and external consultants to ensure all materials are produced on time and within budget. Provides advice to managers on engagement and communications approaches and educational opportunities, connected to project objectives and corporate and departmental objectives and issues.
- Plans and executes public and stakeholder meetings and other outreach opportunities based on project needs. Identifies coordinating opportunities for engagement and communications with other levels of government, member jurisdictions and the private sector.
- Develops materials for project reporting on public engagement processes and outcomes; oversees and executes the collection of engagement input; reviews, interprets, analyzes, and tracks engagement input and outcomes; and recommends course of action.
- Coordinates engagement processes with Indigenous Nations.
- Develops and presents reports to external teams, municipal councils and advisory committees.
- Performs related work as required.
**To be successful, you have**:
- University graduation, with a degree in communications, or broadcast communications or a teacher’s certificate, or with Accredited in Public Services (APR), Accredited in Business Communication (ABC), or International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) accreditation, plus considerable related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques relating to engagement and communications especially as it relates to governmental agencies and organizations.
- Experience engaging Indigenous Nations.
- Sound knowledge of the objectives of the Board, Metro Vancouver and its member jurisdictions as they relate to the work performed.
- Working knowledge of assigned client departments' policies and operations related to the work performed.
- Ability to plan, develop, coordinate and evaluate engagement and communications strategies.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective liaison and working relationships with a variety of senior level internal and external contacts.
- Ability to represent Metro Vancouver’s corporate objectives to internal and external audiences.
- Ability to develop and implement concepts and themes and to coordinate production and delivery of a variety of communications and education material.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with a wide variety of internal and external contacts.
- Ability to prepare budget estimates, administer and control an approved budget; and to prepare and maintain records, reports, correspondence and related material.
- Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia.
- Completion of a Criminal Records Check.
