**Who We Are**

Michael Kang Counselling & Psychotherapy is a clinic that offers psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, and families of all ages & backgrounds. In addition to offering virtual sessions, we provide in-person counselling out of our office in MidTown Toronto.

We value helping clients gain increased awareness about their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours through asking thought-provoking questions and providing psycho-education when useful. We are also committed to teaching individuals, couples, and families practical skills that can be used in their day-to-day lives so they may become “unstuck” from unhelpful patterns that may prevent them from living fully and authentically.

**Position Summary**

We are offering a contract position for a psychotherapist who can provide counselling to individuals, couples, and/or families from the ages of 5+. We are looking for someone who can provide both virtual sessions AND in-person sessions at our MidTown Toronto office.

**Qualifications/Requirements**
- Master’s degree in Couples & Family Therapy, Counselling, Counselling Psychology, or similar designation
- Current registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario

**Experience**
- Experience working directly with clients as a Registered Psychotherapist
- Experience & knowledge about providing therapy to individuals, couples, children & families

**Qualities & Skills**
- Experience reviewing Terms of Service with clients and receiving informed consent
- Ability to conduct risk assessments for suicidality, interpersonal violence, and self-harm
- Confidence creating safety plans with at-risk clients
- Experience working with children, young adults, adults, and the elderly
- Awareness of when to refer clients to other health professionals and/or emergency services
- Strong communication skills
- Commitment to social justice and an awareness of power dynamics in session
- Experience integrating different models of therapy into your work (i.e. CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused, etc.)
- Strong self-awareness skills
- Ability to work with individuals, couples, and families of all ages
- Passion for professional growth and improvement via self-directed learning and supervision
- Ability to remain hopeful, resilient, and strengths-based with clients
- Ability to utilize programs like Zoom, booking software, and other apps
