**Job Overview**
To provide service in the areas of lumber and building material in the yard and warehouse. Supporting and working with the team in all aspects of the lumberyard, delivery & loading of customers orders along with unloading of supplier loads.
This is an ideal job for a college or university student as we are offering a flexible schedule.
**YARD DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Customer service, load materials, fills orders, assist customers.
- Assist customers with product information.
- Scheduling and preparing orders for delivery.
- Unload orders and products as needed.
- Regular delivery of customer orders.
- Delivery driver for all types products.
- Product pick up from a variety of locations.
- Ensure good, safe and clean state of all Garden City trucks, tow motors and equipment.
- Maintain service and safety records of all trucks, tow motors and equipment.
- Support existing and new product lines, warehousing, stocking, scheduling, and delivery.
- Work with fellow staff to ensure yard and warehouse is neat, clean and tidy, which includes sweeping and picking up strapping and garbage.
- Regular stocking and replenishment of lumber and other LBM products.
- Have the flexibility to work in any other temporary assignments as designated by manager.
- Operate forklift & tow motor.
- All lifts are properly tarped to protect from the weather and reduce cull.
- Notify LBM manager of low inventory items.
- Manage LBM yard staff re: productive work each day and ensure that they are completing tasks correctly, safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate deliveries, pickups, order picking, loading, delivery paperwork.
- Organization of proper placement of lumber products in yard.
- Organization of products in seacans and distribution to departments.
- Conduct required training seminars; modules & assignments as required
- Ongoing review of inventory SKU’s including additions and deletions.
- Report inventory requirements to appropriate department manager.
- Treat company’s property, vehicles and inventory with respect, care and safety.
- Daily forklift circle checks.
- Assist in building, designing and executing special projects as needed.
- Stock all products in a neat and timely manner.
- Maintain regular contact with existing customer base.
- Treat customers as “you” would like to be treated.
- Manage and motivate yourself and others in your area
**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- Interest in Retail Sales required
- Experience with lumber or woodworking products, services, trends and ability to advise.
- Be able to work in a fast paced and constantly changing retail environment.
- Work well independently and with a team.
- Ability to train and motivate other staff as needed.
- Work two scheduled Saturdays per month as well as evenings.
- Motivated, self-disciplined individual with a strong work ethic.

- Ability to listen and understand customer needs.
- Enjoy working in a team environment.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Flexibility in Work Schedule, Store Hours is 7:30 am - 6:00 pm Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Saturday.
- Clean driving abstract and valid G driver’s license.
- Ability to lift 35 to 40 kg articles. i.e.: shingles, patio stones, drywall etc.
- Physically fit to handle outdoor weather conditions and diversified temperatures.
- Punctual and ready to work.
**Job Type**: Part-time
Pay: $17.60-$18.50 per hour
Expected hours: 12 - 24 per week
