**Job Summary**
The Delivery Driver is a helpful and positive representative of Durham Medical whose primary role is to deliver equipment and products safely and efficiently to clients’ homes or long-term care facilities. Our Delivery Driver will always represent Durham Medical in a professional and courteous manner through the ability to build rapport, be an attentive listener and have a thorough grasp of our customers’ needs.
**Core Duties and Responsibilities**
- Exercise professionalism in communication, work attendance habits, and attire.
- Deliver equipment/products to clients’ homes and or facilities within time frames and deadlines.
- Analyze delivery address, determine appropriate routes and maintain schedule.
- Perform small repairs or installations of client equipment at client’s home or the store.
- Load and unload of cargo off truck and ensure cargo is secured.
- Follow all road and national truck driving safety regulations and standards.
- Complete documentation for mileage and cargo; keep track of mileage, fuel, and toll expenses; confirm inventory matches shipping documents.
- Refuel vehicle and check or replace oil as needed.
- Inspect truck daily for damage or maintenance problems.
- Report any accidents or vehicle issues encountered while driving to management.
- Provide verbal product education and supporting documentation to clients in accordance with company procedures.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices.
- Assemble or install items upon delivery (i.e.; furniture, appliances, etc.)
- Collect payment or get signatures for proof of delivery.
- Contact client to notify delivery date & time or to reschedule a delivery or repair.
- Pick/Pack deliveries and load merchandise into van or truck.
- Ensure that items set aside for delivery match paperwork.
- Clean equipment both rental and loaner
- Build equipment for clients or for in-store Customer Service Reps if required.
- General store maintenance
- snow removal, garbage removal, warehouse sweeping, and minor store repairs.
- Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
- Maintain delivery log, prepare vehicle performance forms, and complete daily paperwork.
- Perform emergency repairs, such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, or spark plugs.
**Qualifications**:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid and current Driver’s License (G)
- 3+ years professional driving experience or related work experience
- Must have a clean driving record with no recent moving violations.
- Proficient at driving, maneuvering, and parking large vehicles
- Physically fit and able to sit for long time periods and lift 50 pounds comfortably.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
- Highly empathetic, responsible & reliable
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
**Physical and Sensory Demands**:
- Ability to handle, install, position, and move materials, and manipulate parts and tools repetitively.
- Perform physical tasks that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time to complete specific maintenance tasks.
- Ability to complete tasks in restricted spaces or awkward positions.
- Ability to spend long periods of time sitting/driving.
**Working Environment**:
- Company vehicle
- Customer sites (residential homes, long-term care facilities, retirement homes, hospitals)
- Warehouse/Office
- Outdoors in inclement weather (rain, snow, heat, cold, etc.)
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour
