**Volunteer Board Member - [Autism Asperger Friendship Society - AAFS]**:

- Location: Calgary, AB_
- Commitment: Approximately 4 hours per month_

**About Us**
AAFS is a passionate and dedicated organization committed to empowering youth on the Autism spectrum through innovative programs, inclusive activities, and lifelong skills development. AAFS provides respite care in a social and recreational environment for children, youth and adults on the spectrum of Autism; this includes, but is not limited to, _Autism, Aspergers, Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Non-Verbal Learning Disorder_.

**Position Summary**
We are currently seeking compassionate, engaged, and community-minded individuals to join our **Board of Directors**. As a board member, you will help shape the vision and strategy of our organization while ensuring we remain aligned with our mission and values.

To provide an accepting environment for members of the Autism Community where they can cultivate friendships, develop social skills, and connect to the greater community.

A world in which there are no barriers to acceptance; a world where everyone is afforded a socially and recreationally fulfilling life.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Attend monthly board meetings (in-person or virtual)
- Participate in at least one board committee or special project
- Contribute to strategic planning and organizational oversight
- Assist with fundraising, outreach, and community engagement efforts
- Act as an ambassador for AAFS in the community
- Provide governance, accountability, and fiduciary oversight

**Qualifications**
- A passion for supporting youth, especially those on the Autism spectrum
- Experience in non-profit governance, education, healthcare, law, finance, social work, or fundraising
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Previous board experience (not required but appreciated)
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
