**What YOU Will Do**

Under the supervision of the preconstruction manager, the position holder analyzes the bid documents and prepares the design, preliminary, control or detailed estimates, according to the various types of projects, seeking to win the contract enabling Pomerleau to perform the related construction.
- Carry out the quantitative evaluation of materials and manpower for key work;
- Prepare the summary of quantities according to the drawings and specifications, categorizing them based on the standardized sections and trades involved;
- Participate in the selecting the design, types of equipment and suppliers;
- Attend coordination meetings, site visits and assess difficulty of the project to be estimated;
- Research prices specific to the project (materials or subcontracting), following the analysis of the bid documents;
- Participate in the subcontractor invitation, forward them any required documents pertaining to the work involved, and provide them with access to the virtual drawing room;
- Verify the content of all amounts received from electromechanical suppliers and subcontractors, and ensure that they are in accordance with the bid documents when compiling and closing the bids;
- Participate and/or coordinate the various participants in estimating a “Design-Build” project;
- Participate in updating and maintaining regular contact with the subcontractors and suppliers contained within the company’s database;
- Suggest and quantify alternatives to the bid documents to reduce the construction costs of projects tendered;
- Offer support to the estimation department and technical expertise for the mechanical and electrical disciplines;
- Participate in developing preliminary work schedules;
- Participate in closing of bids.

**What YOU Will Bring**
- Technical diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent experience;
- Five or more years of relevant experience in commercial and institutional project estimation for a specialized subcontractor or engineering firm;
- Experience in “Design-Build” type projects;
- Excellent technical knowledge in electrical and mechanical building systems;
- Excellent skills in reading drawings and specifications;
- Excellent knowledge of OST, Excel, Autocad-MEP and Revit-MEP software. This will be considered a significant advantage;
- Excellent knowledge of the Eastern Canadian market;
- Versatile, with excellent analytical skills;
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Excellent knowledge of the local construction market;
- Desire to be part of an estimating team for the long-term and must be result-oriented.
