**ROLE OVERVIEW**
As Pipelayer you play a vital role in the successful completion of construction projects. You will be involved in every phase of the construction process and will be responsible for pipe-laying, compaction equipment operation and maintenance, site preparation, and excavation.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
The Pipe Layer is responsible for the following:
- Demonstrate CME Personal Protective Equipment standard by attending morning meeting in hard hat, high-vis safety vest, steel toed boots, eye protection, gloves
- Use hand tools and mechanical tools competently
- Competent in compaction techniques
- Proficient at using power tools
- Follow Safe Work Procedures and watch for hazards
- Liaise with clients
- Work diligently, following instructions and anticipating and filling crew needs
- Read basic plans
- Perform work in accordance with all organizational, as well as provincial and federal health and safety standards and legislation, ensuring highest standard of safety is upheld
- Perform the installation of pipe with the utmost standards in quality while keeping up with production targets
- Perform daily site assessments, including identification of potential work site hazards
- Ensure appropriate tools are transported to the worksite. Ensure proper functioning of all tools prior to utilization
- Prepare area for pipe installation, performing all necessary excavation preparation including slope and elevation determination
- Perform required excavations to create trenches utilizing equipment or when necessary, through manual digging
- Grade and level trench bases using tamping machines or using hand tools
- Make certain all trenches are dug according to construction drawings including adherence to all specified excavation levels and depths
- Place pipe accurately and according to construction drawings
- Place manholes and catch basins when necessary
- Properly connect pipe lengths and seal joints
- Bed pipe with required materials, packing materials with required compaction equipment
- Backfill trenches with required materials upon completion of job
- Maintain organizational services, facilities, and equipment
- Engage in all forms of labour to assist in the successful completion of construction projects from start to finish
- Troubleshoot pipe and/or mechanical systems

- Operation of hand tools and other skills specific to the position
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Physically fit with strong stamina
- Grade 12 diploma
- Minimum 5 years experience in Civil Construction
**COMPENSATION & BENEFITS**
- $33.00-$43.00 per hour, depending on experience and education
- Vacation pay (calculated at 4% of total wages earned)

**ADDITIONAL DETAILS**
- Generally, 7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday
- Overtime required during busy construction periods
- Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada
