**Compensation**:$28-$32/hr** (experience & tickets).
**Expected Hours**: Active weeks **20-40+ hrs** during events; typical storm shifts **6-12 hrs**, major events up to **16 hrs**.
Operate wheel loaders (and skid steers as needed) to load salt/sand, open lots, push back banks, and support sidewalk/driveway crews so sites meet service times and quality standards. You’ll work independently and as part of a dispatch-led team, often overnight, in challenging weather.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Pre-trip, safe operation, and post-trip of **wheel loader** (and attachments: pusher, bucket, forks).
- **Lot clearing**: windrow/pile management, pushbacks, widening, stack/bank control.
- **Loading**: salt/sand trucks, on-site bins; careful scale/volume awareness.
- **Site quality**: cut to edges, reduce ridges, protect curbs/fixtures, prevent property damage.
- **Documentation**: start/stop times, site notes, photos, and damage reports in the app.
- **Coordination**: follow radio/app dispatch; support plow/sidewalk crews for sequence and ETAs.
- **Equipment care**: daily fueling/greasing, minor adjustments, report defects immediately.
- **Safety first**: traffic control, spotters when required, comply with all policies & PPE.
**Qualifications**
- **1+ season** operating a wheel loader (winter) **or** strong heavy-equipment experience in construction/yard settings.
- Valid **Class G** license and reliable transportation to yard/site.
- Ability to work **overnights, weekends, holidays**, sometimes with short notice.
- Comfort working outdoors for long periods; able to climb in/out of equipment repeatedly.
- Smartphone literacy (photos, app check-ins, notes).
**Nice to Have (Asset)**:
- Loader/Heavy Equipment certification, Skid Steer experience.
- WHMIS, Working at Heights (asset), First Aid/CPR.
- Basic mechanical aptitude (hoses, fittings, pins, electrical).
