Position Summary

The General Laborer performs manual tasks to assist skilled tradespeople and ensure the smooth operation of various projects. This role involves physical labor, basic tool use, and adherence to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist with Manual Tasks: Help with lifting, carrying, and moving materials and equipment.
- Prepare Work Sites: Clean and prepare work areas by removing debris, setting up tools, and arranging materials.
- Operate Basic Tools: Use hand tools, power tools, and machinery under supervision.
- Support Skilled Workers: Provide assistance to tradespeople such as carpenters, electricians, and plumbers as needed.
- Follow Safety Procedures: Adhere to safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Maintain Equipment: Clean and maintain tools and equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Perform Basic Repairs: Handle minor repairs and maintenance tasks as directed.
- Load and Unload Materials: Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing materials and supplies.
- Other duties as required.
- Work Environment / Health and Safety:

- Use or wear personal protective equipment or clothing required to perform the job tasks safely
- Report to their direct report the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective devices of which they are aware, and which may endanger themselves or another worker
- Report to their direct report any contravention of the Occupational Health & Safety Act or the regulations or the existence of any hazard of which they know
- Adhere to KCC 5-S program - Clean plant environment
- Minimal exposure to noise
- Fast-paced work environment
- Be aware of all posted warnings and hazards of all surrounding machinery
- No associate shall remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations for workers (the “Green Book”) or by the Company
- No Associates shall use or operate -any equipment, machine, device, or thing or work in a manner that may endanger themselves or any other worker
- No Associate shall engage in any prank, contest of strength, unnecessary running, or rough and boisterous conduct
- All Associates must comply with all Company safety policies and procedures and must adhere to the laws and regulations as stated in the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations for workers
- Skills and Qualifications:

- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
- Basic Tool Knowledge: Familiarity with common hand tools and power tools.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to follow instructions accurately and ensure quality work.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety practices and willingness to adhere to safety protocols.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to team efforts.
- Education and Experience:

- High School Diploma or Equivalent: Preferred but not always required.
- Previous Experience: Prior experience in a labor-intensive role is advantageous but not always necessary.
- On-the-Job Training: Typically provided to familiarize with specific tasks and equipment
- Working Conditions:

- Physical Requirements: Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods
