The **School of Health and Public Safety** at SAIT prepares students for a dynamic career in the health care sector. **The Opportunity**

As an Instructor in the Dental Assisting Program, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of oral healthcare professionals. Your expertise, mentorship, and commitment will directly impact student success, helping learners build clinical competence, confidence, and readiness for rewarding careers in dental health.

You will deliver engaging instruction in both lab and clinical settings, guide students through hands-on learning, and foster a supportive environment that encourages achievement and professionalism. Your contributions will help students reach their full potential and graduate as industry-ready professionals.

**Note**:SAIT, as a post-secondary institution, serves a diverse student population. Therefore, instructional duties may occasionally be required during early mornings, evenings, and weekends. If selected, specific scheduling arrangements will be discussed between you and the leader.

**The Role**:
- Prepare and deliver lab demonstrations that inspire and challenge students.
- Contribute to maintaining updated curriculum and supplies to ensure relevance and excellence.
- Assess student progress through assignments, exams, and lab competencies, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Mentor and coach students, fostering professionalism, confidence, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a positive, team-oriented environment.
- Participate in SAIT training, school, and program meetings.
- Promote and support SAIT’s mission, strategic, and academic plans.
- Stay current with industry trends and maintain contact with relevant sectors to bring real-world insights into the classroom.
- Perform other duties as required, always with a focus on supporting student success.

**Qualifications & Experience**:
- Registered Dental Assistant with the College of Alberta Dental Assistants **or** Registered Dental Hygienist with the Alberta College of Dental Hygienists.
- Minimum three years of progressive, diverse hands-on clinical experience in a private or public health dental clinic.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a team environment and model collaborative practice for students.
- High degree of flexibility and adaptability to changing conditions.
- Comfortable speaking to the public and inspiring student engagement.
- Positive and respectful attitude that fosters a supportive learning environment.**Preferred**
- Previous teaching experience and/or additional educational qualifications.
