Located in the City of Oshawa, Bloom Retirement Community is looking for Registered Practical Nurses - to fill permanent casual positions. Specifically, your daily life with us will look like: - Sets up, dispenses, and documents all resident’s medications and treatments
- Responsible for maintaining an orderly medication cart, medication room, and accurate medication administration records
- Establishes, reviews and follows the resident’s care plan
- Stimulates residents to participate with their care in order to maintain their autonomy as much as possible
- Performs skilled nursing tasks as defined by company policy and procedure, and as allowed by Provincial and Ministry Regulations
- Exercises independent discretion in responding to resident emergencies, determining need for and contacting emergency services and/or physician and family as appropriate
- Documents observations, concerns, changes in resident’s conditions, incidents and/or accidents, and ensures that follow-up documentation occurs until issue is resolved and reports the changes to the Health Services Director
- Records and implements physician orders, following appropriate procedures
- Makes PSW shift assignments and ensures that assigned duties are completed in a satisfactory manner
- Reports PSW performance issues to Health Services Manager or Administrator and provides input for care giver performance evaluations
- Manages shift coverage when staff members call in sick for the oncoming shift

Required qualifications:

- Must have current registration as Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse and is in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Previous work experience with the elderly in a health care setting
- Previous supervisory experience preferred

TB step 2 documentation is required.
- Level of spoken language: intermediate English
- Level of written language: intermediate English
