Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Manager of the Office of the Dean of Students plays a crucial role in providing operational leadership and student support across key functions of the office, which include student conduct, community standards, gender-based and sexual violence prevention and response, conflict resolution and behavioural intervention. This position involves developing and implementing programming related to both student conduct and sexual violence prevention, education, and support for the OCAD University (OCAD U) community. In addition to handling immediate behavioural concerns, this position involves long-term case management, overseeing behaviour management plans, coordinating safety planning with Campus Security, and participating in threat assessments.
**Summary of Responsibilities**:
- Administration and Data Management_
- Oversee administrative tasks within the Dean of Students office, including maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and managing correspondence related to student conduct and sexual violence response and support
- Develop and maintain databases for student conduct, behavioral intervention, and sexual violence cases to ensure all data is stored in compliance with relevant policies and legislation
- Manage data collection, reporting, and analysis related to student conduct and behavioral intervention cases, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and legislative requirements
- Prepare reports summarizing trends, outcomes, and recommendations related to student conduct, sexual violence prevention, and behavioural intervention
- Coordinate with various University departments to ensure seamless integration of student services, particularly related to safety, student conduct, and behavioral intervention
- Monitor budget and provide recommendations for adjustments, ensuring resources are aligned with departmental needs
- Support the Dean with special projects and initiatives contributing to the successful operation of the Office of the Dean of Students
- Supervise the development and performance of staff to ensure alignment with unit goals and objectives, including but not limited to setting individual goals and objectives, monitoring progress, evaluating performance, coaching and supporting professional development.
- Training and Education_
- Develop and deliver training programs for students, faculty, and staff on topics such as sexual violence prevention, student conduct policies, conflict resolution, and student rights and responsibilities
- Lead workshops and informational sessions to raise awareness of University policies related to student conduct, sexual violence, and community standards
- Supervise peer-led training programs and support peer-to-peer initiatives aimed at educating students about their rights, responsibilities, and campus resources
- Create and maintain educational resources on consent, bystander intervention, appropriate behavior, and sexual violence prevention for students and the broader campus community
- Case Management and Student Support_
- Administer student conduct cases and ensure fair, transparent processes are followed, including investigating, adjudicating, and managing individual cases of misconduct
- Act as a case manager for non-academic misconduct and behaviour-related incidents, working with students to develop outcomes that prioritize education and restorative justice
