**Job Description**:
As CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Operator, you will be responsible for the operation of our CNC machines. Machine Operators set-up and operate precision metal cutting and grinding machines and carry out other job duties as required. Machine Operators are also responsible for maintaining their equipment and interpreting shop drawings.
**As a member of our team, your responsibilities include**:
- Comply with all applicable health and safety principles, procedures, policies and company safety program
- Change and set up cutting tools, inserts and specialized equipment in an effective and safe manner
- Perform regular preventative equipment maintenance and cleanup of equipment
- Use hand held measuring instruments to verify that all parts meet specifications
- Perform material handling activities such as loading, unloading, and moving products and materials by hand or using material handling equipment such as conveyor belt, overhead crane or jib crane
- Ensure product quality complying with defined standards and report deviations
- Inform the Supervisor or Plant Superintendent of any supplies that are missing or need to be ordered to maintain smooth production operations
- Have defective tools and equipment tagged and brought to maintenance
- Carry out all other related duties or tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or Plant Superintendent
**Qualifications**:
- Two to three years related experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Proficient English speaking, reading and writing skills
- Work well independently, with mínimal supervision
- Valid Overhead Crane ticket is an asset
- Punctuality, maturity, reliability, and strong work ethic
- Availability to work overtime is an asset

**Physical Demands**:
The ability to stand continuously is essential, with frequent walking and occasional sitting. The nature of the position will require the employee to perform a wide range of physical activities ranging from pushing and pulling, lifting and carrying heavy objects, to climbing, crouching, kneeling, bending and handling. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
**Work Environment**:
Working safely is a condition of employment at Canam. Constant exposure to a steel fabrication environment and regular exposure to weather conditions, excessive noise levels and vibrations. Often works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles. Occasionally works in high, precarious positions. Potential burn hazards such as: UV light radiation, open flames, sparks and other sources. Noise levels in the work environment will require the use of appropriate hearing protection. The correct usage of PPE will be required at all times. This is a safety-sensitive position. A safety-sensitive position has been defined as one where the employee’s responsibilities impact the health and safety of themselves, coworkers and/or the public (in this case the end-user of our product).
