Blue Coast Research Ltd. (BCR) is a leading consultancy and metallurgical testwork laboratory located in Parksville, British Columbia. BCR is focussed on providing high quality metallurgical testwork, data and interpretation to the global minerals industry.

BCR is looking to hire a Project Metallurgist to be part of our expanding laboratory team.

Overview

Reporting directly to the Senior Metallurgist, the Project Metallurgist will be a technical resource on laboratory testwork projects.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Metallurgist will:

- Be a visible health and safety leader, with a focus on providing a safe and respectful environment for Blue Coast employees, clients and contractors.
- Manage and design testwork programs with general oversight from Senior Metallurgists.
- Prepare laboratory test worksheets.
- Schedule laboratory tests to ensure client goals are met.
- Collate testwork data, including reviewing test QA/QC metrics.
- Execute flotation, gravity, cyanidation and other laboratory scale tests where required, according to standard Blue Coast operating procedures and quality control protocols.
- Set-up, execution and troubleshooting of pilot plant campaigns.
- Communicate test results with the client, recommend and coordinate future testwork as necessary to achieve project goals.
- Report data (via spreadsheet or written reports) and present results.
- Prepare and manage testwork budgets, proposals and invoices.

Education and Experience

The Project Metallurgist should have:

- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience as a metallurgist or process engineer, either in a laboratory, plant, or engineering environment.
- Specific experience in one or more of the following areas: froth flotation, gold hydrometallurgy, gravity concentration, comminution.
- Proficient with MS Office computer programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills (English language).
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mineral processing, metallurgical engineering or chemical engineering preferred)
- Ability to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia.

It would be well regarded, but is not required to have:

- Fluency in a second language (preferably Spanish)

Location

This position will be based at the Blue Coast Research facilities in Parksville, BC. Some travel (national and international) to client project sites may be required from time to time.
