Arbutus Foods is an SQF-certified food manufacturer in Duncan, BC that makes ready-to-eat side dishes, such as different flavors of cooked potatoes and rice, various types of salads, and several different types of dips.

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance Technician will be responsible for assisting with the maintenance and verification of the Food Safety Management System.

Quality Assurance staff must be on-site Monday to Friday during normal business hours; the Quality Assurance Technician position cannot be done remotely.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist with investigations and corrective actions, including those related to customer complaints or other non-conformances
- Assist with laboratory operation and record keeping, if qualified to do so
- Assist with record verification, analysis, and trending
- Act as the designated alternate for the QA Manager in the Senior Management Team, Food Safety Team, Continuous Improvement Committee, Internal Audit Team, Crisis Management Team, and Recall Team
- Assist with training production staff and assess their competence related to that training
- Other duties as required

**Requirements**:

- Post secondary education or work experience in a related field (e.g. Food Science, Microbiology, etc.) is required. Current students will be considered depending on their availability and education background.
- Previous experience working in a HACCP-certified or GFSI-certified production facility is strongly recommended
- Previous Quality Assurance or Quality Control experience is an asset but not required
- Previous kitchen experience and/or Food Safe certification is an asset but not required
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 22 - 26 per week
