**Independent contractor position (Calgary and surrounding area)**

A Care Aide is a dedicated individual who provides one-on-one support and specialized care to children with disabilities. They play a crucial role in providing Guardians and program supervisors with temporary relief.

**Care Aide Role**:

- Travel to the client's home and community establishments.
- Work closely with multiple families and children on a weekly basis.
- Assist with hygiene and caregiving routines.
- Keep children occupied and safe.
- Care aide subtitles include: Respite aide, Extraordinary care aide, Daycare aide, and Community aide.

**Requirements**:

- Diploma or Undergraduate Degree in the Social Sciences, including Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Education, Nursing, Therapy assistance or Psychology OR Proof of related training and/or certification (For example: Home Care aide certification, RN License, Non-violent crisis intervention certificate or foundations in community disabilities studies certificate)
- 1-2 years of prior experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
- Strong communication skills and punctuality
- Experience working with children
- Comfortable working with young children with developmental and physical disabilities.
- Proof of related training and/or certification
- CPR and First aide
- A deep understanding of various disabilities, trauma, healthy development, positive parenting, and quality caregiving.
- Police information background check with the vulnerable sector search
- General liability insurance

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: From $16.50 per hour

Expected hours: 9 - 36 per week
