Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources and performing under the direct supervision of the Town’s RCMP Detachment Office Manager, the Police Clerk responds to public inquiries and, when necessary, refers information and/or individuals to the appropriate official. This position also provides administrative and operational support to RCMP and Bylaw members.

**Responsibilities**:

- Receive, assess, and respond to front counter and telephone inquiries, complaints, and requests for information (e.g., joint police and community initiatives, criminal record checks, legislation, etc.) and services (e.g., motor vehicle collision reporting, fingerprinting services, etc.) from the public.
- Provide a broad array of administrative support and services, such as: receive, sort, file, and distribute mail; arrange courier services; assist in the storage and safekeeping of exhibits and evidence, when assigned; transcribe internal and external correspondence (including notes and statements); and action Record Suspension requests.
- Provide information, advice, and options to clients to assist in their understanding of and compliance with administrative operational policies, guidelines, processes, and procedures.
- Receive and handle emergency communication from the public and the RCMP Operational
- Research, input, modify, manipulate, track, analyze, extract, and delete data and information in a variety of automated systems used by the RCMP (such as, but not limited to: CPIC, JOIN, NPIRS, PROS, TEAM) and manual filing systems; extract statistical data when required.
- Maintain radio contact with regular members to provide pertinent information from data banks and relevant background material, such as potential for violence and/or suicidal tendencies, call back-up and other assistance for members, and support the well-being and safety of staff, the public, and victims.
- Receive and record monies (e.g., fines, fingerprints, copies of accident reports), prepare deposits and letters to insurance companies.
- Purchase and maintain office supplies and equipment and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment as assigned and sometimes arrange for repairs of said equipment and inventory.
- Process and receive all mail.
- Fulfill Court duties if required
- Undertake other duties as assigned.
- May be assigned a role within the Emergency Coordination Centre (ECC) for Disaster Services

Minimum Requirements
- Post-Secondary Certificate, Diploma, or Degree required (preference will be given to those with a focus in emergency communications, law enforcement, criminal justice, or a related field).
- Minimum two (2) years of work experience in an administrative setting (preference will be given to those with experience in an RCMP Detachment Services position or comparable protective services administrative office environment).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Satisfactory background screening, including an Enhanced Security Clearance.
- Must be capable of maintaining absolute confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive materials or issues.
- Able to perform consistently in a competent manner and be punctual, organized, and focused.

Additional Knowledge and Skills
- Preference will be given to those with certification in CPIC, PIRS, PROS, TEAM, JOIN, and eCollision software programs and training will be provided for those who don’t possess same.
- Knowledge of the _Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act._
- Acquire sufficient experience and knowledge relating to the procedure of the _Alberta Judicial Process Act_.
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate is an asset and training will be provided when available.
