**Who we are**:For over 40 years Centre 507 has provided services to those who need it most in Centretown, Ottawa. We are proud to provide participants with quality, nutritious meals Seven days per week and one of the most fulsome recreation programs in the city. The Centre also provides a warming Centre, access to community resources including resume help, tax and legal assistance, help with housing and other needs-based services.
**Why we do what we do**:Our goal is simple. We want to be there for anyone in need of a warm meal, a friend, and a community.
- Leading our participants in recreation, daily tasks and volunteer activities around Centre 507.
- Motivating our participants to follow through with their own goals by providing: Active listening, motivational interviewing, crisis support, appropriate referrals to other agencies.
- Ensuring a safe and supportive environment is maintained through the use of our progressive discipline of verbal warnings, written warnings, asking individuals to leave, time outed.
- Confident in one’s own ability to manage hostility and mediate crisis.
- Ensure the safety and security of clients, staff and Centre 507 property and buildings
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, reporting any safety issues to the frontline shift supervisors
- Mediate crisis/conflict situations using non-violent intervention techniques and/or ASIST and/or First Aid/CPR and refer to/advise appropriate staff as needed.
- Taking part in daily debriefs and weekly team meetings.
- Supervising our maintenance staff, relief staff, volunteers and placement students.
- Meal Planning and prep for Centre 507, managing food inventory, and order food.
**You’ll also be prepared to..**
- Work 16, 12 hour overnight shifts a month using a 2-3-2 every other weekend schedule.
- Exercise extreme flexibility to accommodate fluctuating and varied program needs
- Participate in the work team, in a way that is positive, and ensures inclusion of all staff.
- Assist in coordination of special yearly events, and provide content for social media communication.
- Lift up to 50lbs.
- Use stairs frequently.
- Provide harm reduction support (e.g. needle exchange and safer inhalation support, Hep C and HIV information and support).
- Record and compile daily and monthly statistics.

- Post-secondary education in the Social Sciences, Social Work, Police Foundations, Community Justice, Harm Reeducation, PSW, or Security Work or equivalent experience and education.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of issues such as poverty, homelessness, addictions, and mental illness.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
