**About this opportunity**:
The main deliverables for this role includes conventional heavy oil and thermal exploration within the WCSB, thermal oil-sands competitor intelligence and evaluation. This role will steward growth opportunities for Cenovus's Thermal Assets within the McMurray and Clearwater Formations. The scope of this role will include mapping, forecasting of current and future production, land sale strategy and evaluation of acquisition opportunities.

**What you’ll do**:

- Work collaboratively with subsurface engineering and geoscience teams on exploration oil sands growth opportunities
- Utilize various suites of geological and geophysical data to propose exploration opportunities, develop land strategy, and progress non-core Cenovus owned thermal assets towards development
- Support business development by evaluating competitor properties and make acquisition recommendations to Senior Management
- Ensure consistency in evaluation practices while fostering effective communication across teams
- Mentor junior staff
- Prepare documentation and presentations for technical reviews, look backs and knowledge shares

**Who you are**:

- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Professional Geoscientist with APEGA accreditation and eligibility for APEGS accreditation
- 12+ years of geoscience experience
- Heavy oil (conventional or thermal) experience
- Strong experience in project management and or asset development
- Experience using Petrel or Geographix
- Experience with core analysis and petrophysical evaluation
