**Start.ca is currently looking for a Financial Analyst to join our Finance Team **The Financial Analyst (FA) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial data gathering, analysis and reporting. The (FA) will design and create complex models for Business Intelligence and to analyze large sets of data while interpreting and communicating results effectively. The (FA) will provide support to Finance and other teams by providing regular and adhoc reports and findings. Along with the responsibilities and requirements specific to this role, the Financial Analyst is expected to abide by and encourage Start's Code of Conduct, helping to strengthen a trusting and positive work environment.
This is a senior financial role in our organization reporting directly to the Director of Finance with a pay range of $75k - $90k
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Management reporting that tracks business performance.
Analytical support to financial budgeting and forecasting processes.
Conduct ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required for various functional business units and accurately interpret and communicate results.
Provide support in analyzing price variance, margin variance, changes to budget and revenue/cost trends.
Work cross-functionally with various teams to discuss reporting outcomes.
Support the Finance team in building and /maintaining dashboards and various financial KPIs.
Analyze trends to highlight potential areas of opportunity for the company.
Assess and develop processes and documentation to support various finance functions.
Various government reporting such as Statistics Canada.
Provide insight to business cases and recommendations to support project requests and large investment decisions.
Other appropriate responsibilities relevant to the role today and the role as it may evolve.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a similar field.
CPA designation is considered an asset.
Minimum 5 years' experience in a reporting and analysis role.
Advanced knowledge of Excel.
Preferred experience with Business Intelligence software and relational databases.
Ability to analyze large data sets and extract meaningful conclusions.
Experience with Accounting Software such as Intacct or similar and ERP.
Research skills and experience an asset.
Excellent communication and analytical skills, creativity, curiosity, and a strong work ethic.
Strong business acumen with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks with a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced, ever changing environment.
Superb organizational, time management, and prioritization skills coupled with the ability to work on and manage multiple projects at once.
High level of critical thinking and reasoning skills to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
