The Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) is seeking a Research Technician who possess relevant training in molecular biology to join the **Diagnostic Development** program. The program aims to develop personalized medicine approaches maximize the chances of positive outcomes for those experiencing cancer.

This position is temporary, full-time for one-year.

Fully vaccinated is defined as having received all of the required doses of a Health Canada approved vaccine and having received the final dose at least 14 days before your employment start date.

**R**esponsibilitie**s**:
Perform technical tasks on fixed or frozen tissue.?Previous experience in areas including nucleic acid extraction and quantification, qPCR, library construction for NGS-based assays and light microscopy an asset.
- Molecular biology approaches working with DNA and RNA.
- Compiles experimental and analytical data.
- Maintain sample databases and records of experimental data.

**Qualifications**:

- BSc or specialized degree in molecular biology/biotechnology or equivalent with related experience in an academic or commercial wet lab laboratory.
- Experience in working to GCLP standards and following SOPs.
- Experience in carrying out DNA and/or RNA extractions using kits.
- Experience in using Nanodrop, Qubit and other nucleic acid quantification assays to assess quantity and quality processed samples.
- Experience with performing qPCR and other molecular techniques.
- Experience with histopathological processes (tissue sectioning, staining, IHC) an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
