We are currently seeking an **Estimator** to join our team in **Ottawa, ON**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Perform all functions of an Estimator in the costing of GEMS environmental services to potential customers.
- Review contract documents and technical reports defining scope of work and preparing take-offs for pricing in consultation with the department team leaders (Ottawa, Ecology, Hydrogeology, Geotechnical, Monitoring & Equipment).
- Search and gather first-hand information from websites and procurement platforms for upcoming projects.
- Obtain and review offers and quotes by subcontractors or venders
- Track all open opportunities for all GEMS services and follow-up on submitted bids and proposals
- Follow up on submitted proposals and negotiate to convert open opportunities to awarded contracts.
- Work collaboratively with and support Team Lead to deliver project scopes of work and monitor costs.
- Always Work with expected profit margin in mind.
- Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers etc.)
- Maintain open communications with customers including after-hours.
- Evening, weekends (on-call) and travel are a component of this position as required to meet customer demands and due dates.
- Foster and participate in a Health & Safety culture.
- Maintain training, qualifications and professional designation(s), as required.
- Any other reasonable activity required by management/leadership.

**Education & Experience**:

- Post-secondary diploma or degree
- Work experience in estimating, construction, and/or environmental services
- Valid driver's license
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Organized and self-motivated individual with initiative and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven experience in customer service
- Experience with negotiations
- Ability to work independently

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $50,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
