Personal Support Worker

We are looking for compassionate and caring experienced caregivers to join our team in providing that little dose of joy and going the extra mile in Providing personal care and support services to our Clients in a Comfort Keepers established Personal Care Program. Client is located in Burford. Must have a valid drivers license and assess to a reliable vehicle. Start date ASAP

**Essential Functions**:

- Performs duties as assigned in the Plan of Care.
- Assists the client with activities of daily living by providing any of the Comfort Keepers approved personal care activities including, but not limited to: bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, oral hygiene, and/or ambulation.
- Provides for a clean, safe, and healthy environment for clients and family members. Provides light housekeeping tasks including laundering, and ironing, of client’s garments and linens and changing the bed.
- Assists in meeting nutritional needs by providing meal planning, meal preparation, grocery shopping, dishes, and kitchen clean-up.
- Assists the client with ambulation/transfers as specified in the Plan of Care.
- Observes and reports any changes in the client’s mental, physical, or emotional condition or home situation to immediate supervisor in a timely manner.
- Establishes and maintains effective communication and a professional relationship with clients, family members, and co-workers.
- Completes required documentation of services delivered and submits to office in a timely manner according to policy. Uses equipment and supplies safely and properly.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding client information.
- Other reasonable related duties as assigned

**Job Qualifications**:

- Must have completed a Personal Support Worker College Diploma Program from a recognized Postsecondary Institution; **or** 5 years of work experience fulfilling the duties of a PSW while employed by a recognized home care company/agency, hospital, long-term care facility, or retirement home; **or** be a student enrolled in a University level Nursing Program who has completed their second year of studies; **or** be an Internationally Trained Nurse who is working toward Canadian Certification.
- The applicant must hold and be prepared to maintain certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Once granted employment, the employee must provide annually, a Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check.
- Applicant must meet or exceed minimum qualifications for each of the following background checks: Criminal Background Investigation, Motor Vehicle Driving Record (where necessary), Professional and Personal Reference Checks.

**Position Physical Demands**:

- The caregiver should be able to communicate verbally and in writing in either English or French
- The work requires physical exertion on a regular and recurring basis as needed, such as driving, assisting client in activities, and light housekeeping.
- Regularly required to stand sit, walk, bend
- Regularly required to reach without restrictions and be able lift up to 12kg (25 lbs).
- Must demonstrate manual dexterity and strength in both hands.

**Caregivers Responsibilities**:

- Must satisfactorily complete Comfort Keepers training and orientation program.
- Must accept responsibility for learning and adhering to Comfort Keepers policies and procedures
- Must be able to function in the home setting with mínimal direct supervision and maintain satisfactory relationships with administrative staff, clients, and family members.
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and document services provided.
- Must be genuinely concerned about helping people and have high moral standards of honesty and integrity.
