**ABOUT THE ROLE**

The Speech-Language Pathologist will provide assessment consultation and treatment of a variety of swallowing and communication disorders for inpatient adults admitted to the medical and surgical units Intensive Care Unit Stroke Program and Emergency Department at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC). The Speech-Language Pathologist will have the opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. The SLP counsels the client family caregivers and other service providers related to the disorders and their management. The Speech-Language Pathologist will report to the Manger of Rehabilitation Services at TBRHSC.

**WHAT YOU BRING**

Education/Experience:

- Master's degree or equivalent in Speech-Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders required
- Registration with the College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists of Ontario required
- Experience in dysphagia and communication disorders management is an asset
- Experience in conducting and interpreting Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSS) is an asset

Skills/Abilities:

- Flexibility and excellent organizational interpersonal and teaching skills
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team with proven ability to be flexible adaptive and innovative
- Interest/experience in Quality Improvement and Outcome Measurement
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Assets:

- Encouraged to be a member of the Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC)

Conditions of Employment:

- This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory **Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)/Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)**where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
