**Career Practitioner** Full-Time (4 days a week) 2 days in Shelburne & 2 days in Barrington 3 Year term ending March 26th, 2026 (with opportunity of renewal) Report directly to the Operations Manager and or Executive Director. They provide assistance, counselling, and information to clients on all aspects of employment search and career planning. They also provide counselling and information to employers regarding human resource and employment issues. Case Managers are responsible for assessing an individual's employment/career needs and identify those who are suitable for case management. Case Managers work with these individuals in a collaborative, client driven process to develop a Return-to-Work Action Plan (RTWAP). The actions of a Case Manager must address the specific needs of the client as documented in their goals. The Case Manager must support accountability by organizing service delivery that is appropriate, coordinated, and timely to address client needs and desired outcomes. **Salary**: $26.12-$27.43/hr depending on experience plus benefits package Employment Requirements - A bachelor's degree or college diploma in a related field, such as psychology, social services, or education, is usually required. - Completion of secondary school and several years of experience in services related to counseling or in a helping profession may replace formal education. - Criminal record check/vulnerable sector. - Ability to work with people from diverse cultures. - Attain Career Practitioner Certification and Case Manager Specialization within 1 year and/or evidence of certification, enrollment in the program or presence on a waiting list with the Nova Scotia Career Development Association. This certification program focuses on core competencies for practitioners with its primary competency being "Diversity and Inclusion". Skills Requirements - Good knowledge of community organizations, service providers, and referral agencies. - Assist clients to develop job readiness skills and job search strategies. Interview clients to obtain employment history, educational background and career goals. - Collect labour market information for clients regarding job openings and entry and skill requirement. - Teach clients how to write resumes and prepare for job interviews. - Strong computer skills, with the ability to work in a computerized environment using MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook programs. Essential Skills Working with others, oral communication, computer use, problems solving, job task planning and organizing, writing, finding information, decision making, critical thinking, reading text, document use and continuous learning. Experience - 2 years occupational experience working with clients. - Bilingualism is an asset but not necessary. **Responsibilities**: - Conduct initial intake duties including gathering and documenting relevant client information in LaMPSS and providing information on services. - Perform Needs Assessment to identify/ address barriers to employment, develop Return-to-Work-Action Plan and RTWAP Management. - Counsel clients through various employability dimensions including career decision making, job search, job maintenance, skills enhancement and being able to identify and access resources, planning and management of their career-life development. - Administer and interpret tests designed to determine the interests, aptitudes, and abilities of clients. - Collect labour market information for clients regarding job description, entry and skill requirements, employment outlook and other occupational information. - Assess need for assistance such as diagnostic referrals (ex: psycho-educational assessments), rehabilitation, financial aid or further vocational training and refer clients to the appropriate services. - Determine client eligibility for various funding programs. - Monitor and evaluate RTWAP, adjust as needed by visiting client workplaces or skills training establishments to support the client's plan of action and to assist with solutions to issues and concerns. - Provide follow-up services and support to clients to complete case life cycle. - Provide individual job search sessions to help clients develop job readiness skills, job search strategies, and resume, cover letter and interview skills. - Design, organize, implement, and evaluate group sessions with diverse client groups, covering topics such as: job search skills, resume and cover letter development, Portfolio. - Provide established workers with information on maintaining a job or moving within an organization, dealing with job dissatisfaction, or making a mid-career change. - Advise employers on human resource and other employment related issues (workplace accommodations, job coach supports, etc.). - Provide consulting services to community groups and agencies, business, and industry, and to other organizations involved in providing community-based career planning resources. - Adherence to inclusionary p
