**The Town of Devon is looking to fill 1 Lifeguard/Instructor IIII position, which will serve as the Pool Manager for the operation and maintenance of the Devon Outdoor Swimming Pool.**
The Pool Manager is responsible for acting as a member of the management team, overseeing the overall operations and safety aspects of the pool, scheduling pool programming, hiring, managing, and supervising shift supervisors, lifeguards, and instructors. This position also communicates with Finance staff and Recreation Operators to ensure safety requirements are met through inspections, equipment checks, and staff training.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Staff Recruitment, Hiring, and Supervision**:

- Post and interview all pool staff
- Coordinate the staff schedule throughout the summer
- Provide mid and final staff evaluations
- Train staff on pool operations, including cleaning, mechanical equipment, and water chemistry
- Provide mentorship and supervision for staff
- Maintain high-quality public relations with pool patrons
- Prepare and facilitate in-service training for staff throughout the summer

**Program Planning and Financial Management**:

- Develop, administer, plan, and evaluate all aquatic programs
- Promote swimming lessons and special events to the public
- Make financial decisions about running lessons based on registration and attendance
- Complete the summer pool schedule for the upcoming year by mid-to-late August
- Assist with preparing the budget for the upcoming season
- Train staff on financial procedures and oversee deposits
- Ensure that all purchases are within budget and admissions are being properly charged

**Pool Operations and Safety**:

- Ensure the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the pool systems
- Respond to any maintenance issues that arise throughout the season
- Work with administration and capital health to ensure proper water chemistry
- Ensure opening and closing procedures are followed
- Maintain positive relationships with Town employees, swim club executives, pool clientele, suppliers, and Alberta Health representatives

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level C or Aquatic Emergency Care (AEC)
- Canadian Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification
- Lifesaving Society Instructor Award (LSI), Lifesaving Society Swimmer Instructor (SI)
- Swimming Pool Operator I certification
- Swimming Pool Operator II certification (preferred)
- Additional courses such as Fitness Instruction, Synchronized Swimming, and Diving will be considered an asset

**Experience**:

- At least 2 years of experience in a senior lifeguard position or assistant manager role where you supervised other staff
- Experience in running and operating a pool is an asset
- Cash handling experience is an asset
- Satisfactory Criminal Reference and Vulnerable Persons Check required prior to starting
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a driver's abstract upon request
- Experience working independently and as part of a team

**Hours of Work**:
This is a full-time seasonal position with up to 40 hours per week, for a maximum of 964 hours, ending by September 2025.
- March and April will involve mínimal hours, mostly focused on interviewing and hiring staff.
- From May through August, full-time hours will be required, including evening and weekend shifts.

**Salary Range**:
$31.87 per hour
