Strong Start Facilitator

**Job Function**:
Reports to the District Vice Principal, Early Learning

Together with parents and caregivers the facilitator will be responsible for setting up, establishing and operating the program

Parents and caregivers will be supported to participate alongside their children in a purposeful, play based environment

The program concentrates on key aspects of family literacy, numeracy, parent support and education, stages of early childhood development and community resource sharing

Assist in the set up and establishment of the StrongStart Learning Centre

Establish and post a daily schedule for the program

Ensure that the activities available for the children reflect the stages of child development and encourage creativity and language development

Plan and prepare active, participant oriented, circle times once or twice daily

Create a rich early learning environment and be able to model developmentally appropriate, play based learning for parents and caregivers

Make connections with the school staff to facilitate a smooth transition for families into the formal school system

Attend district and/or community meetings as appropriate

**Qualifications**:
An ECE Certificate required

Minimum of 4 years experience in a ECE program

Training and/or experience working with children aged 0-5

Training and/or experience working with parents/adults in a facilitative role

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to be culturally sensitive, creative, collaborative and resourceful

Knowledge of community services in New Westminster

20 hours per week, Monday - Friday, while school is in session earning $28.70 per hour
