**Call for Proposals: Freelance Communications & Marketing Support**

Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers (WCD), a leader in the city’s arts and dance scene, is seeking a **freelance communications and marketing specialist** to support our team throughout the 2025/2026 season.

We’re looking for someone who already works with arts organizations or nonprofits and understands how to amplify their presence. You’ll be helping us stay connected with our community, tell our story, and raise awareness about our programming and performances.

**Scope of Work**

We invite proposals from freelancers or small firms able to provide some or all of the following services:

- **Media Relations & Press**

Draft and distribute press releases based on information provided by WCD

Pitch media and secure coverage of our performances and initiatives

Coordinate interviews and assist during in-person recording sessions if needed
- **Social Media Management**

Maintain and update WCD’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)

Create and schedule content (posts, videos, stories, event listings)

Track performance analytics and provide regular insights

Design, write, and distribute quarterly newsletters

Maintain subscriber lists and ensure successful delivery to patrons and donors

**Qualifications**

We’re looking for a contractor who offers:

- Experience in **media relations**, including writing press releases and coordinating interviews
- **Established relationships** or experience working with **local and national media** outlets
- Strong writing and editing skills, with an engaging and adaptable tone
- Comfort managing **social media accounts** and using scheduling tools
- Ability to create and send newsletters using tools like **Mailchimp** (or similar platforms)
- Reliability, responsiveness, and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with arts organizations or nonprofits is an asset
- Experience working with small teams or volunteer-led organizations is a plus

**Contract Details**
- This is a **freelance contract** for the 2025/26 season (August 2025-June 2026), with flexible hours and an agreed-upon monthly retainer or per-project fee.
- Contractor will invoice WCD monthly or as mutually agreed.
- Pay range to be discussed based on scope and experience.
