Masonview Homes in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, operates as a Small Options Home (SOH), providing a supportive living environment for individuals with various disabilities and mental health conditions. The overarching goal is to enable residents to live within their community and reach their fullest potential as they envision it.

The services at Masonview Homes encompass daily living support, which includes meal preparation, emotional support, companionship, monitoring health & wellness, and administering medications as prescribed by healthcare professionals. Small Options Homes are part of a community-based housing initiative aimed at integrating individuals enrolled in the Disability Support Program into the community. These homes typically feature around three residents living with disabilities, accompanied by support staff who provide around-the-clock care and various services to enhance the residents' wellness, independence, dignity, and comfort.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide compassionate and personalized care to residents within our Small Options Home setting, ensuring a supportive and dignified living environment.
- Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and grooming to promote independence and well-being.
- Prepare meals and assist with serving meals, ensuring dietary needs are met while promoting a pleasant dining experience.
- Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare professionals, ensuring accuracy and adherence to medication administration procedures.
- Complete housekeeping tasks, such as tidying up and laundry, to maintain a clean and comfortable living environment.
- Provide companionship and engage in meaningful activities with residents, fostering positive relationships and enhancing quality of life.
- Monitor and report any changes in residents' conditions to the Program Adiminstrator, Administrator or healthcare team, ensuring timely communication and intervention as needed.

**Night awake**:

- Help residents when they wake in the night to use the washroom, get changed, and go back to bed.
- Provide comfort in the event the person who wakes up is scared or disoriented
- Some people may need help getting up in the morning to start getting ready for their day programs or work. This support could include bathing, dressing and breakfast.

**Experience**:

- Previous experience in small options homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or similar community-based residential care settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with meal preparation, caregiving, and supporting individuals with various disabilities and mental health conditions.
- Knowledge of medication administration procedures, with an emphasis on safety and adherence to protocols an asset.
