We are currently looking for a Full-Time Floor Staff (32+ hours/week and possibly up to 40 hours a week). We are looking for a person that has the experience, commitment, and drive. We pay above the average amount for a person working in this industry. In fact we pay a living wage to all employees after the 3-month probation period.

Starting date would be as soon as possible.

You must be willing and able to do weekend and evening shifts.

Job Title**:Front-End Staff Person**

Job Summary: Front-End staff provide customer service, financial transactions, and maintain a clean and tidy store environment.

Responsibilities & Duties
- Greet and thank customers
- Provide cashier service - providing a great experience to the customer, working with a computer-based point of sale system, cash drawer, debit, credit card transaction, balancing your floats and cash drawer, etc
- Process customer bulk refill requests to ensure a smooth flow of customer service.
- Maintain good organization and display of products.
- Provide excellent and friendly customer service in our specialized environment so that the person(s) have had a great experience
- Household duties such as cleaning floors, counters, baskets/trolleys, bathrooms/toilets and other areas of the store.
- Engage in continuous learning in response to the increasing variety of products and development of the store.
- Follow company guidelines on safety and health standards - handling dangerous, heavy, and/or awkward items
- Be knowledgeable about the products and our mission statement
- Complete daily tasks/checklist in an orderly, safe, and efficient manner
- Opening and closing duties
- Rotate stock, display stock, face stock,
- Be an organic, local, Fair Trade and waste-reduction/zero-waste ambassador.

Competitive Wages

We are a value-driven based company. That being said our starting wage is $15.50 per hour. If your experience warrants it you may be started above this rate. You should be at our Living Wage rate of 17.00$/hour after your 3-month/420 hours probation period.

Probation Period

All new hires are reviewed on a monthly basis for the first three months to ensure that both parties are getting what they need out of the arrangement. We want to ensure that the arrangement is healthy and mutually beneficial.

Benefits Package

After 3 months, and you work a minimum of 25 hours per week, you will be offered a benefits package that includes life insurance, dental, drug and extended health care (such as massage therapy) coverage.

Higher Vacation Pay

EGS employees receive 6% holiday pay instead of the required 4%. (in essence, the base rate of 15.50$ an hour works out to 16.43$ per hour). You do have the opportunity to have this ‘vacation pay’ accrued so that you have money available to you for time away.

Sick Benefits/Sick Day pay

We do not have a program for this benefit. Companies that offer this usually provide 5 working days a year that the employee can claim as ‘sick days'. To provide our staff with that benefit but without a ‘program’ per se, we add 2% to a staff person’s vacation which equals 5 days of pay over the year.
