The work of Good Shepherd is based on a fundamental belief in providing hope and restoring dignity to the most vulnerable members of our community. Our services include emergency food transitional housing and education for homeless and street-involved youth; hospice palliative care; community mental health programs; and supportive housing programs. We are committed to integrating Harm Reduction practices into our programs and to prioritizing the rights, dignity, and choices of those who use substances. By integrating a Harm Reduction framework at Good Shepherd, we can decrease barriers to service and better support some of our community's most marginalized members.

This opportunity is with our Good Shepherd - **Women's Services**

Good Shepherd Women's Services, through its various programs, is seeing increasing numbers of children who have experienced trauma, witnessed or experienced abuse and are living in poverty. The Child and Youth program is a psycho-educational program designed to support children up to 18 years of age who witness woman abuse, and to provide individual and family counselling addressing the complexities these children face. The Child and Youth facilitator also works with mothers and caregivers, primarily in the residential program, providing insight on the impacts of woman abuse on children and support with developing healthy, meaningful relationships between caregiver and child.

**How You Will Make an Impact**

The Child and Youth Facilitator will work in collaboration with the Community Support Services LEAF Facilitator and Child and Youth Facilitator to provide group programming. Our programs often work closely with community stakeholders, including schools, other VAW agencies, child welfare and family court systems to develop unique programming for children and women in the VAW programs.
- Engage children to provide individualized counselling and therapeutic interventions to a diverse range of emotional and physical responses to trauma
- Communication and coordination with external agencies, including joint public education, program intakes and program delivery.

**What You'll Bring to Our Team**
- One year of children's therapeutic programming and a completed post-secondary education in social services or related program
- CPR/First Aid is required
- ASK suicide prevention is an asset.
- A valid Ontario driver's license (G2) is also an asset
- Ability to speak French and/or other languages considered an asset
