Systems Support Analyst
Reporting to the Director of Technology Services and Infrastructure, the Systems Support Analyst is responsible for managing the internal physical and virtual server environments, network infrastructure and security. The incumbent supports users by providing advanced troubleshooting support with workstations, operating system software and network connectivity.
**Responsibilities**:
- Manages internal physical/virtual server environments, including security, availability, upgrades, hardware, operating systems (Apple, Windows, Citrix)
- Assists with reviewing, planning, and implementing network infrastructure improvements
- Provides back-up support for Virtual Apps and data storage (Dell Compellent SAN infrastructure)
- Supports users on Google G-Suite for Education systems, including Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar and works closely with Lower School faculty to manage the use of Chromebooks and ensure correct app suites are installed
- Addresses advanced troubleshooting of LAN, WLAN, Internet connectivity issues and coordinates work requests to outside vendors related to network wiring
- Oversees network security by staying current on emerging threats (internal and external), managing antimalware, running penetration tests, audits, and suggesting mitigation strategies
- Provides technical support to users through the IT ticket system by offering advanced support associated with workstations, AV equipment, operating system software and network connectivity
- Maintains current knowledge of best practices by engaging in professional learning opportunities
- Assists with off-boarding staff by closing access, transferring and saving critical data
- Provides back-up for technical support during student exam periods, including Digi Exam, and back-up for set-ups and tear-downs of AV equipment for various events at the School
- Occasional early mornings, evenings and weekends may be required
- Occasional lifting (approximately 10kg), servicing equipment using hand tools and working in confined spaces
- Monthly on-call responsibilities
- Completes other duties as required
- Postsecondary education in computer science or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role
- Has good communication skills, verbally and in writing
- Has expert knowledge of Google G-Suite for Education
- Has good knowledge of network tools used in supporting multi-platform environments, monitoring LAN/WAN/SAN capacity, performance, security and availability
- Has hands-on skills and technical proficiency in router and switch configuration, network topologies and applicable software
- Has the ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Has the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and adjust priorities accordingly
- Demonstrates strong troubleshooting techniques and problem-solving skills with a focus on creative resolution and continuous improvement
- Provides professional and efficient customer service
- Displays a high degree of confidentiality when handling sensitive information
