Job Description - Shipper/Receiver

Basic Job Description

Manages the shipping and receiving of all products, materials and supplies to customers and internal organizations. Collaborates and communicates with assembly technicians, customer service representatives, service providers, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products. Be flexible to work in production to perform tasks related to hoist assemblies as required.

Primary Duties
- Perform general physical activities in order to load, unload, sort and move shipments by hand or using material handling equipment
- Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of shipment
- Pick, pack, seal, and label materials to prepare for shipping
- Track, trace, and update the status of incoming and outgoing shipments
- Perform tasks in varying temperature environments
- Maintain compliance with laws, regulations, and/or standards and complete appropriate documentation as required
- May determine the shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates
- Record shipment data for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes
- Contact carrier representatives to coordinate the shipping and delivery of materials
- Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and non-conformance to specifications
- Order and store shipping supplies to maintain stock inventory
- Maintain shipping and receiving area using Lean and 5S principles
- Deliver or route materials to other departments using material handling devices
- Provide on the job training to new/junior staff
- Assist in the Mechanical assembly of manual & powered hoist products
- Update and maintain relevant data systems (ERP, Kanban Boards, etc)
- Record and report non-conformances between parts, assemblies, sales orders, and vendor receipts
- Assist in maintaining warehouse organization
- Operate Forklift

Qualifications:

- Education and Experience

Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Products and Microsoft Dynamics NAV preferred, but not required. A clean driving record is desirable. Forklift certification preferred. Experience with 5S and lean manufacturing an asset.
- Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude would be an asset.

Strong communications skills. Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing. Sound knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds required on a routine basis. Ability to take direction and follow pre-established guidelines Ability to multitask and prioritize. Ability to perform basic math. Ability to work alone with minimum supervision. Ability to work in a team environment

Working Conditions
- Work will be of a physical nature.
- Work is done indoors.
- Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Hours may fluctuate on business volume and some overtime will be required from time to time.
- Steel toe boots must be worn at all times when in the warehouse.

**Salary**: $21.00-$24.00 per hour
