**Job Summary**
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Maintenance Assistant to join our dynamic facilities team. The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting the Maintenance Supervisor in maintaining the building and grounds in good operating condition. Includes cooperation with the Housekeeping Department and all other departments to ensure the wellbeing and safety of all tenants/residents.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Maintain the safety and good repair of the building both inside and out.
- Check the daily maintenance logbook and complete needed repairs and maintenance.
- Respond to maintenance and repair needs of tenants/residents as directed by Maintenance Supervisor, Property Manager, or Administrator
- Assist with vacant unit repairs, painting, and maintenance as directed
- Co-operate with the Housekeeping Department to maintain a clean environment.
- Shovel snow, landscape and mow lawns.
- Receive deliveries of supplies and place in the proper locations.
- Complete all in-service training as required.
- Be knowledgeable of and to practice the building’s fire and safety programs.
- All other duties as assigned by the Property Manager, Maintenance Supervisor and Administrator
- Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act by: _Using or wearing the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used. Reporting to the employer the absence of, or defect in, any equipment or protective device of which she/he is aware and may endanger herself/himself or another worker. Report to the employer or supervisor any contravention of the Act or the regulations or the existence of any hazards of which she/he is aware._

**REQUIREMENTS**
- Three years full-time employment experience in a maintenance position with an employer requiring similar services
- Some training in repair trades such as electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, etc. would be desirable
- **Flexibility to be called in after hours if necessary**

**Mental and Physical Demands and Working Conditions**
- Must demonstrate cooperative, helpful and positive communication with tenants, residents and their families, visitors and staff
- May be required to be on call for tenant and resident emergency repairs
- Good problem-solving skills
