Metro Compactor Service was established in 1978 and is Canada’s leading expert in Waste and Recycling Equipment solutions. We are looking for a full time _Skilled Labourer_ to grow in the company.

**WHAT YOU'LL DO**:
The _Skilled Labourer_ will support various departments in the function of their role. This includes: the welding team, installation, service technicians, and more. The Shop Helper/Labourer should have strong mechanical aptitude. You will be trained to fabricate/weld compactor feed systems as well as to install compactors/balers.

This is a long-term permanent position. Training will be provided, and growth opportunities are available.

**Job Requirements**:

- Assist the Production Team with the welding and fabrication of compactor feed systems _(to be trained)_
- Operate pressure washer to clean equipment prior to servicing it in the shop.
- Maintain, organize site, and shop clean up.
- Perform garbage dig out on compactors
- Operate hand tools to assist production/service team.
- Assist with loading and offloading equipment/parts using forklift _(to be trained) _
- Operate propane forklift to maneuver heavy equipment _(to be trained)_
- Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced work environment.
- Perform other duties as required.

**Most Commonly Used Tools**: Grinder, Sawzall (reciprocating saw), hammer drill and impact driver

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Ability to read measuring tape
- Experience and comfortable working with hand and power tools
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s license
- Forklift operation (an asset, will train)
- Welding experience (an asset, will train)

Comfortable working in all weather conditions year-round and wearing protective clothing while working in or near garbage, recycling, or compost material.
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to use hands to operate equipment and machinery; climb or balance; kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk with and listen to other team members, supervisor, Project Manager and customers. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**

The Employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, occasional outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. PPE is required to be worn as per our Health & Safety policies.

Must be willing to work in dirty and smelly locations to perform the required duties.
