**Overview**

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Janitorial Representative (JR) performs duties to ensure a high-level cleaning and disinfecting of the facility. The JR is primarily responsible for cleaning and sanitizing public, common and staff areas of the building.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

- Previous animal husbandry experience is preferred. Knowledge of animal welfare practices related to animal sheltering, adoptions, and euthanasia would be considered an asset.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license.
- Strong sense of teamwork and collaboration, with the ability to foster the same amongst others.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have a genuine interest in and concern for the overall well-being of animals and demonstrate empathy and compassion for Shelter animals.
- Ability to manage the physical requirements of the position.
- Ability to function effectively under challenging circumstances and accept direction.
- Organizational skills to meet time demands and multiple duties.

**Principle Accountabilities**
- Clean building floors by sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, and vacuuming as required.
- Cleaning office tables, chairs, desks and all other furniture used in the building as directed.
- Dust mechanical devices like monitors, desktops, printers, and any other device
- Clean windows, doors, glasses and mirrors with necessary cleaning substance
- Make sure that waste bins are emptied, including external waste containers.
- Restock and resupply restroom papers and make sure the toilet and restrooms are clean and in a good condition
- Monitor cleaning supplies and notify shelter management when products are low.
- Ensure cleaning equipment remains operational and inform management when equipment requires repair.
- Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, promoting the Saskatoon SPCA’s mission and values related to animal welfare.
- Work closely and correspond regularly with fellow team members regarding departmental needs and activity, providing relevant updates on a regular basis to shelter management.
- Take good care of the environment or building to make sure that hazardous materials are removed
- Take careful and safety measures in the use of chemicals which can be harmful to the body or can damage things
- Build and foster relationships with staff, volunteers, and members of the public.
- Providing training, guidance, and instruction to volunteers.

**Other duties as assigned**

(may include)
- Seasonal responsibilities: Mow lawns, pull weeds around the designated environment and conduct light snow removal during winter months. Ensure external entrances are free of snow.

**Salary**: Starting wage $14.35 per hour

**Currently hiring for PART-TIME Position only**
