The Catholic Centre for immigrants (CCI) has been serving refugees and immigrants for more than 65 years. CCI is a bridge between the 7,000 immigrants and refugees who come to Ottawa each year and the community. We provide programs and services to help newcomers settle and integrate. We also work in the community to promote the value of a diverse and more welcoming community for all.
**Job Summary**
Under the direction of the Welcome House Manager, the Welcome House Case Worker is responsible for assisting the Centre residences with a broad base of support and resources. The position requires strong communications and interpersonal skills, excellent organizational abilities and exceptional cultural competency.

**Employment status: Full-Time Contract**, until March 31, 2026
**Hourly rate: $30.09**

**MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assess clients initial settlement and integration needs, and refer or facilitate access to appropriate services.
- Organize & facilitate educational activities to orient clients to their new community, the Canadian culture and social development.
- Assess client’s housing needs and assist in finding suitable accommodations.
- Arrange, assist and accompany clients, if needed, to view accommodation.
- Establish links and maintain a good working relationship with landlords to secure permanent accommodation for clients (rent negotiation, leases, and rent payment).
- Liaise with community service providers and suppliers regarding client’s needs (rent, furniture delivery, date of moving, documentation ).
- Visit the client at home on the day of moving out to ensure a smooth transition to permanent accommodation and into the community.
- Perform in-person follow-ups either at the office, by phone or visitations.
- Evaluate client progress at the beginning, middle and end of the program.
**Qualifications**
- Undergraduate degree with 2 years experience in a social service setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of services and resources available to assist newcomers to Canada.
- Ability to facilitate workshops and group.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to deal with confidential material and matters.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written.
- Ability to function in a multidisciplinary, culturally diverse workplace.
- Fluency in **English and is required**. Fluency in other languages is an asset.
