**CareCorp Seniors Services, a trusted long-term care and assisted living contractor, is currently hiring a Support Service Supervisor / Cook for one of our assisted living care facilities, Shannon Falls.**

**This is a combination role and permanent full-time position which offers a competitive salary and benefits.**

**Schedule**: Permanent Full-Time; Sunday - Thursday
Sunday + Monday (Cook _1000-1830_)
Tuesday Wednesday, Thursday (Support Services Supervisor _0900-1700_)

**Position Summary**
The Support Services Manager will assess and evaluate the food preparation and safe food handling practices and procedures, in accordance with the established policies and procedures and licensing requirements, to ensure high quality, nutritious and appealing meals for the residents. Responsibilities also include hiring, scheduling/workload, supervising and evaluating Food Service, Laundry, Housekeeping staff, and administration preparation of the departmental budget.

**Responsibilities (Support Service Supervisor)**:

- Develops, executes, controls, achieves and evaluates departmental goals, objectives, policies and procedures and ensure that the required standards, Food Safety and sanitation are met.
- Identifies and implements systems and processes which ensure the facility remains fully operational with mínimal “down-time” during regular and emergency situations.
- Ensures licensing, client, CareCorp, and industry standards are met/exceeded in providing high quality meals and snacks to meet the nutritional needs of residents.
- Maintains communication and develops relationships with the CareCorp management team, professional organizations, suppliers, sales representatives, collaborative agencies, and the community as a whole.
- Supervises all food and environmental services staff by performing duties such as interviewing, hiring, scheduling and coordinating work assignments, evaluating employee performance, disciplines employees and determining related training and orientation requirements.
- Investigates complaints regarding housekeeping/laundry, dietary services and equipment, and takes corrective action.
- Conducts orientation training and in-service training to explain policies, work procedures, and to demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment.
- Establishes standards and procedures for work of housekeeping, laundry and dietary staff.

**Responsibilities (Cook)**:

- Prepares assigned food items by following established menus, recipes, and quantity quotas, determining ingredients and quantities required and assembling ingredients and equipment required for cooking.
- Plans preparation and cooking schedule.
- Cooks and seasons assigned food and therapeutic diet items such as soups, sauces, salads, starches, meats, fish, poultry, vegetables, and desserts by methods/procedures such as roasting, frying, grilling steaming, poaching boiling, baking: tests food items for palatability and temperature and adjusts accordingly.
- Carves food items such as meat and poultry and controls portioning of food items to ensure recipe yield meets assigned quantity quotas.
- Maintains established food rotations in storage, to minimize spoilage and waste.

**Qualifications**:

- Graduation from a recognized 12-month program in cooking or an equivalent combination education, training, and experience;
- Food Safety Certificate;
- Experience managing staff,including a unionized environment;
- Minimum of three years experience in the food service industry;
- Experience in a complex care or assisted living setting;
- Excellent communication skills.
- Cultural education and experience are preferred.
