Dental Model Technician

**A Dental Laboratory Cast Assistant** helps fabricate dental appliances by creating accurate stone models from dental impressions. Their work is foundational for crowns, bridges, dentures, and orthodontic appliances.
**Primary Responsibilities**:
- Receive and inspect dental impressions (alginate, PVS, etc.)
- Mix and pour dental stone or plaster to create models
- Trim, shape, and finish stone casts using lab equipment
- Label and organize cases with appropriate patient/work order info
- Clean and maintain tools, workstations, and molds
- Assist technicians by preparing items for the next fabrication step
- Follow infection control protocols and safety regulations
**Skills and Qualifications**:
- Basic understanding of dental anatomy and materials
- Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and lab protocols
- Organizational skills for handling multiple cases
- Experience with model trimmers, vacuum mixers, etc. (a plus)
- High school diploma or equivalent (some may require vocational training)
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Stay updated on advancements in dental technology and techniques to enhance skills and improve production processes.
**Qualifications**
- Proficiency in dental terminology related to dentistry.
- Experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably within the dental field.
- Previous experience as a dental assistant is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with CAD software for designing dental restorations is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent manual dexterity are essential for this role.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
