We have one (1) permanent full-time position located in NW Calgary.
4 on 4 off rotation, shifts are from 15:30 to 08:30 on weekdays and 08:30 to 08:30 on weekends and statutory holidays, which includes 8 hours of asleep time.

Program Summary
The Calgary Alternative Residential Services (CARS) program assists individuals with developmental disabilities to become more independent through skill acquisition, empowerment and full inclusion in society, thus improving their quality of life. The CARS program focuses on ‘person-centered planning’ - people supporting people - based on the individual’s needs. Through a self-directed process, the individual will be assisted in identifying areas of support that are important to them and will contribute towards their personal goals.
Job Summary
The Residential Support Worker (RSW) is an essential role to the service Calgary Alternative Support Services Inc. (CASS) provides to clients. This role supports clients to build a strong sense of empowerment; the ability to make positive decisions and help establish themselves as a part of their community; and provide development and stability in our client’s daily activities.
This role is responsible for establishing professional boundaries with the client; providing guidance to the client regarding emotional support, daily living skills, and engaging with community resources based on the goals laid out in their Individual Support Plan (ISP).
**Key Responsibilities**:
Client
- Establish respectful and professional boundaries while developing positive working relationships with clients
- Assist clients in the development and monitoring of goals and objectives indicated in their Individual Support Plan (ISP)
- Support individuals in specifically identified areas, including community access, daily living skills, behaviour supports, budgeting, management of health-related matters and/or harm reduction as needed
- Stay current on all individual health concerns and/or behaviours of concerns
- Follow any behaviour support plans for medical needs or behaviours of concern
- Administer medications as prescribed by the individuals’ physicians or specialists
- Assist with any required individual personal care (feeding, toileting, bathing, changing, grooming and dressing)
- Provide any required physical or mechanical lifts and transfers
- Establish and maintain a positive professional working relationship with client guardians and other client supports where applicable
- Adhere to all cleaning protocols, ensure facility and environments are clean, hygienic and organized; Ensure household laundry is completed
- Complete meal preparation for individuals and ensure meals meet individual care expectations and nutritional guidelines
Agency
- Understand and adhere to CASS Policies & Procedures and program specific expectations as defined in program Operations Manuals
- Complete client and agency specific paperwork in a timely fashion. This includes, but is not limited to, the submission of:
- Time entry through punching in and punching out within the Employee Management System
- Monthly expenses
- Client Monthly Summaries
- Hazard Reports
- Staff Incident & Near Miss Reports
- Client Incident Reports
- Appointment forms, tracking sheets, and any other client specific documentation
- Adhere to Health & Safety policies in accordance to CASS policy & procedures and Alberta OHS legislation
- Maintain valid certification in all core training/employment requirements, and any additional training as assigned based on client support needs

Required Education
- Diploma or equivalent experience in Disability Studies
